Vehicle / Equipment Care Tips
- Dispose of oil properly. Do not dispose of oil by pouring it out on the ground or into any road gutter drains or storm water catch basins.
- Change oil carefully by collecting drips and cleaning up spills.
- Keep your vehicle or motorized equipment leak free.
- Wash your vehicle at commercial car washes that can recycle water or on an area of your property where water is kept on site and is absorbed into the ground.
- Buy nontoxic or "green" products.
- Don't overuse detergents, cleaners, solvents and paints. Use amounts as communicated on the product's directions.
- Store maintenance products and equipment away from rain and runoff.
- Clean up any spills.
- Dispose of household hazardous wastes properly.
- Bag and dispose of trash properly.
- Keep washes free of soil, trash or any potentially polluting items
- Keep animal waste out of washes and dispose of properly on a regular basis.
- Never apply pesticides, insecticides, herbicides or fertilizers immediately before or during a rain event.
- Control erosion in your yard, wash, by landscaping or employing other techniques to counter erosion.
- Clean up trash.
- Dispose of unwanted chemicals, oil and paints properly. Keep from disposing of such items in washes or on the ground.
- Control leaks and clean up spills from activities conduct in your yard, wash or driveway.
