Past Projects

The City of Apache Junction has received Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and State Special Project (SSP) funding since 1982. Since that time, the City has received over $5,851,432 to complete a variety of projects.
Housing
Housing projects have been funded since 1985. These projects have included rehabilitation, replacement and planning. It is estimated that between 1985 and 2010, that there has been over $1,965,818 of CDBG and SSP funding invested into the community for housing projects. It is also estimated that over 133 homes and families have benefited from this activity.

Please note that in addition to CDBG and SSP funding, the City has applied for and received over $2.3 million in State Housing Funds to complete approximately 103 additional housing rehabilitation.
Public Safety
Since 1982, the City has used $1,016,066 of CDBG and SSP funding to complete Public Safety activities. These projects have included:
  • Fire Protection Facilities and Equipment, 1982 - $79,200
  • Mobile Command Unit For AJPD, 2003 - $300,000 SSP
  • 800 MHz Communication System, 2005 - $310,121
  • 800 MHz Communication System, 2006 - $142,479
  • 800 MHz Communication System, 2006 - $184,266 SSP

Public Works
Since 1987, the City has used $1,771,816 of CDBG and SSP funding to complete Public Works projects. These projects have included:

  • Street Improvements, 1996 - $65,000
  • Street Improvements, 1999 - $259,448
  • Street Light Project, 2007 - $161,634 SSP
  • Street Improvements, 2010 - $279,269
  • Sidewalk Improvements, 2011 - $120,218
  • Street Improvements, 2011 - $300,000
  • Street Improvements, 2012 - $104,276
  • Street Improvements, 2013 - $300,000
  • Sidewalks, 2015 - $132,417

Community Facilities
Since 1986, the City has used $579,170 of CDBG funding to complete Community Facility projects. These projects have included:
  • Public Library, 1984 - $114,673
  • Center For People With Disabilities, 1986 - $150,000
  • Food Bank Expansion, 2001 - $83,500
  • Senior Center Kitchen Equipment, 2003 - $117,858
  • CAAFA, 2014 - $113,139
