Join the City of AJ Parks & Recreation for our annual Fourth of July Celebration. All festivities take place on Monday, July 4th, 2016. We will be kicking off the day filled events at Superstition Shadows Aquatics Center. Evening events begin at 6pm and are located at the Apache Junction High School Track and Field. The fireworks show is presented by Republic Services. Parking is limited so please come early. There will be traffic restrictions. Please plan for 20-30 minutes delays. The Fourth of July festivities are all located on School Property and no consumer fireworks, alcohol, tobacco, e-cigs, glass containers, pets or weapons will be allowed at the event or adjacent parking/viewing areas (bags and coolers brought into the facility will be checked). Food and drinks will be available to purchase on site. **Important Traffic Information: All traffic exiting the event will be required to make right hand turns. Please see the map for more information about traffic control plan and parking.
Due to the loud noises and lights, horses will not be permitted at the event or the adjacent areas.
The Skate Park will have holiday hours (8am-2pm) on July 4th due to events.

Promote your local non-profit agency during our activities geared for the whole family! There is no charge for your local non-profit booth. your organization must be a non-profit to participate in this event. Pre-Registration is required. Superstition Shadows Aquatics 4-on4 Co-Ed Volleyball Tournament
Registration for the free tournament begins at 7:15am. Space is limited to the first 8 teams (up to 10 players per team) to register. Tournament begins at 8am. Admission is waived for tournament participants. Spectators will be required to pay the pool admission fee.
Wacky Swim Activities
Superstition Shadows Aquatic Center will be open for swimming from 10am-2pm on Friday, July 4 (daily admission rates apply). We will also be doing wacky swim activities including water games, races, and the Obstacle Course! (free with paid admission to the pool). Races will be split into appropriate age categories for ages 5 and older. Prizes to those who participate. Signup sheets and times of the races will be posted pool side by the manager's office.
Main Event at Davis Field
The main event is located at Apache Junction High School at 2525 S. Ironwood Road at the Football stadium. The gates will open at 6 pm. This is a free event, open to the public (a small fee for food and game booths will apply).Game booths, hosted by local Non-Profit Organizations and activities for kids will take place at the field starting at 6pm. Some of the activities include: Inflatable/Water games, bean bag toss, prize ponds, and live entertainment by Reign-N-Country from 6:30-8:30pm. Free Watermelon will be available starting at 6 pm until it is gone. Bicycle, Tricycle, & Wagon Mini Float Contest - judging at 6:30 p.m., floats should be placed on track, in front of the grand stand- Winners will be announced at 7pm before the band goes on during the bands intermission.
The Republic Services Fireworks Extravaganza - 8:30pm*
The fireworks show is presented by Republic Services. They have been a key sponsor for many years, insuring that this important hometown event takes place for our residents.
*The start time of the fireworks has changed this year and will start promptly at 8:30pm weather permitting.
