This is an exciting time for down-town Apache Junction. For the first time in the city’s 37-year history, there will be a dedicated public space in the core of the downtown where the community can join together to celebrate fun and exciting events!
If you’ve been following the downtown progress, you’ll recall that less than a year ago the city acquired about 3 ½ acres through a land exchange. Through that exchange, we inherited a blighted, abandoned duplex subdivision. Demolition was soon after under-way, and now we have a clean slate in which to plan for some flexible public event space.
Construction of the park is now in progress. The new park will include all of the hard infrastructure (parking, sidewalks, turf, etc.), water feature, and restrooms. Phase 1 construction is expected to be complete in the first quarter of 2017.
