Civil Traffic Case UPDATES regarding Coronavirus

The Apache Junction Municipal Court has implemented a temporary 30 day grace period on appearance dates for civil city code and civil traffic cases during the Coronavirus emergency.

PLEASE NOTE: The grace period does not reset your court date, it is in place to allow additional time to address the citation if necessary.  Most civil traffic citations do not require an appearance.  You may also be able to resolve your citation without appearing in court.

No action is required to receive this grace period.  Please review the following to determine how this impacts the selection you are making for your citation.  (This does not pertain to cases already on an existing payment plan, please see statement regarding payment plans if you are on a current payment plan for your fine)

CITATIONS WITH ONLY CIVIL TRAFFIC VIOLATIONS:

Depending on the charge(s) on your citation, you have different options. Further details regarding your options can be found on the Citation Information page of the Municipal Court webpage.

DRIVING SCHOOL:

If you are electing to complete defensive driving school for one moving violation on your citation, you must complete the course no later than 7 days before your court date.  If you are unable to complete the course within the time requirement based on your existing court date, you must submit a request for a new court date.  Extensions will be granted but you must make a request for a new court date in writing or by phone.

By writing: submit an email to webmailcourt@ajcity.net

Indicate you are requesting additional time to complete driving school, include your name, date of birth and citation number if available

You will receive a new court date by email with instructions on how to contact an approved defensive driving school

By phone:  Please call (480) 982-8250 (can press zero to bypass the pre-recorded information when calling during normal business hours)    We have limited staff available to answer phone calls during normal business hours.  If we are experiencing a high number of calls, you will have an option to leave a message.  Calls will be returned as soon as possible but no later than the end of the next business day.  You will also have an option to leave a message if calling outside of the regular business hours.

When leaving a message, please provide detailed information regarding the nature of your call and provide a way to contact you back (telephone number and/or email address).

If you have more than one violation on your citation, this continuance will be for all violations.
