Sheahan attends Conference

The Apache Junction Police Department is proud to acknowledge the efforts of Animal Control Officer Kristopher Sheahan. Sheahan was the 2017 Civilian Employee of the Year for the Apache Junction Police Department. He has received a $500 grant for advanced training which was used to attend the Eighth National Animal Cruelty Prosecution Conference in Louisville, Ky. The three-day conference occurred Nov. 7-9 and provided attendees current information about veterinarian forensics as well as investigation and prosecution of animal cruelty cases.

Animals are unable to speak for themselves or describe what has happened when they are mistreated, this conference provided participants more insight to aid them in their criminal investigations and to identify signs of abuse and neglect. Sheahan sought this training in order to improve his skills in investigating animal abuse and hoarding.
