Self Defense Class

Parks and Recreation to offer two self-defense classes.

Parks and Recreation will be offering two self-defense classes for women this spring. Choose from a one-night stand alone class, or a 6-week training class. Both classes will take place at the Apache Junction Multi-Generational Center and require pre-registration. Anyone can learn self-defense; no previous experience is necessary for either of these classes.

Practical Self-Defense for Women will be offered on Wednesday, February 27th from 6-8pm. Learn how to defend yourself in a practical and safe manner with various methods of self-defense using common everyday items found in your house, purse or car…even using your hands and feet!

Personal Protection for Women is a six- week self-defense program that will meet Wednesday evenings from 6-8pm March 6th- April 10th. Learn how to use a palm stick (personal protection the size of a pen) in a variety of self-defense situations. Learn striking patterns and techniques as well as different strike points.

Instructor Norman Orr has been a martial artist for over 50 years and has an assortment of martial arts experience to draw on including Kung-Fu, Tae-Kwon-Do and Tai Chi. He has taught self-defense classes to many women’s groups, including women’s shelters, corporate settings and small offices as well as to police and fire departments.
