Parks and Recreation offers a variety of group fitness classes at the Multi-Generational Center. Classes are included in a membership or with daily drop-in fee. Each month we would like to introduce you to a couple of our instructors. This month, we are featuring Cari McMinn and Leslie Dyal.
Cari McMinn teaches H.I.I.T. (which stands for high intensity interval training) style fitness classes at the MGC. She graduated from Arizona State University in 2000 with a bachelor’s degree in physical education and taught P.E. for Mesa Public Schools from 2000-2005. Cari is passionate about engaging in outdoor adventures and total mind and body wellness. She is married and has three adult children. Her interests include hiking, running, strength training and nutrition. Making sure to always have a future race, adventure or challenge on the calendar keeps her motivated and training. Cari currently teaches Tabata classes on Tuesday and Thursday mornings as well as HIIT 45 on Saturdays.
Leslie Dyal was born in Georgia and moved to Arizona just a year and a half ago. She has been studying and practicing Yoga for 20 years. According to Leslie, she became an instructor because, “I just really believed in this yoga practice and wanted to help others and share it.” The form of Yoga Leslie prefers is 26 & 2; a series of 26 poses designed to specifically warm and stretch muscles, tendons and ligaments. These poses are completed in the same order every time. The practice, over time, will also enhance the mind and body, relax, strengthen, reshape and heal the body as a whole. In her free time, Leslie enjoys Circus arts such as the trapeze, fire and stilts!
