Streets/Traffic/Transportation
Streets
The Streets Division of Public Works has regular maintenance programs for sweeping, weed and tree trimming, alley maintenance, and other street-related maintenance. We have an annual maintenance program which addresses problem areas of the streets. These include chip seals, overlays, and street replacement, if necessary.
The City has 176 miles of streets. Of the 176 miles of streets, 166 miles are paved streets and 10 miles are dirt streets. The City provides a variety of life styles. You can live on a dirt street with a rural lifestyle or in an area with curbs, sidewalks, and a 32-foot wide paved street. We have a paving program in which a minimum of 2 miles of dirt streets is paved each year.
PW 2009-04 Ironwood Drive from Tepee St. to Lost Dutchman Blvd
Motorists are advised that Ironwood Drive from Tepee Street north to Lost Dutchman Boulevard will be under construction from August 20th through October 31, 2010. The project involves removing the old asphalt pavement and replacing it with new asphalt pavement. In addition, curb, gutter and sidewalk will be added to the west side of Ironwood Drive.
Traffic barricading will be in place throughout the construction area to assist with traffic flow and provide safety to the public and the construction workers. The barricading will be monitored daily by the contractor and by the City, and changes will be made as needed during the course of construction.
Due to the nature of the work proposed for this project, the City recommends motorists use alternate roads if possible to avoid the construction area. The City apologizes in advance for any inconvenience this may cause the driving public.
For further information motorists and local residents should contact the Public Works Department at 480-982-1055.
