We provide a variety of special events to help build family unity, increase community pride, and create a fun and enjoyable recreational experience for everyone. If you are new to the community, or have been a resident for many years, we encourage you to participate and enjoy the great programs we offer. Lost Dutchman Marathon
This community event is sponsored by Lost Dutchman Marathon Inc. This annual Lost Dutchman Marathon community event is hosted on President's Day weekend. The event includes a full marathon, half marathon, 10K, 8K trail run and a 2- mile fun run.

Lost Dutchman Days
This community event is sponsored by Superstition Mountain Promotional Corporation. This annual three-day community event is hosted on the last weekend in February. The event includes a parade, rodeo, carnival, art show and more! For more information please contact www.lostdutchmandays.org at (480) 982-3141.

Grab your tent, sleeping bags and your family and join Parks and Recreation as we campout in our park. Enjoy a variety of outdoor activities during the day and relax to an evening of entertainment under the stars. Food will be provided. This event will happen RAIN or SHINE.  Event Flyer

Movie in the Park

Come out to Prospector Park for baseball game type activities, followed by a movie in the park. We'll supply the fun, games, and popcorn-you supply the blankets for the grass. The movie will be shown at 7pm, baseball themed and family friendly. While pets are part of the family, we ask that you leave the four legged members at home. Flyer for more information

Come help find over 8,500 prize filled eggs! This egg hunt is open to all ages and is free to the public.There will be other activities and games sponsored by local non-profit organizations available during and after the egg hunt. there is a fee for most activities and food. Event Flyer

Hershey Track Meet

Participants will compete in running and/or field events within their age/gender group. 1st place finishers born 2000-2005 can advance to the State Meet and possibly the National Finals in Hershey, PA.  Age groups are based on year born. Event Flyer

The Apache Junction Fire Department, AJ Parks Recreation and AJ Police Department are teaming up once again to hold the annual April Pool's Day Water Safety event on  Bring the whole family and enjoy the bounce houses, home pool safety for parents, mini swim lessons, swim skill evaluations, raffles, and much more. Must register on site by 10am to particiapte in pool activities.

This is one event you can't afford to miss. The MGC will host healers, providers, non-profits & other agencies who are in the business of wellness. Holiday Program & Light Parade
It will be snowing in AJ again this year! Parks & Recreation will not only have Santa, but SNOW for the entire family to enjoy. Join us for a full day of events starting with a Walk-A-Thon, Santa, Snow, Vendor booths, and wrapping up with the annual light parade.
