Special Events

We provide a variety of special events to help build family unity, increase community pride, and create a fun and enjoyable recreational experience for everyone. If you are new to the community, or have been a resident for many years, we encourage you to participate and enjoy the great programs we offer. Lost Dutchman Days
This community event is sponsored by Superstition Mountain Promotional Corporation. This annual three-day community event is hosted on the last weekend in February. The event includes a parade, rodeo, carnival, art show and more! For more information please contact www.lostdutchmandays.org at (480) 982-3141.
Winter Concerts in the Park

Concerts in the Park-will return in January

Bring your lawn chair and enjoy a nice evening outside with some great music. Each concert typically starts late afternoon and are brought to you FREE by the City of Apache Junction Parks and Recreation and Sonlite Productions. In the event of bad weather, the concert will be moved to the Multi-Generational Center.


Itty Bitty Olympics

Bring your little ones out to enjoy this fun filled morning competing for ribbons and prizes in Olympic style events.  This event typically takes place in March.

Superstition Sleepover

Grab your tent, sleeping bags and your family and join Parks and Recreation as we campout in our park. Enjoy a variety of outdoor activities during the day and relax to an evening of entertainment under the stars. Food will be provided. This event typically takes place in March.
Antique Tractor Show
This annual three-day community event is hosted on the second week of March at the Apache Junction Rodeo Park Event Center. For more information please visit the website http://www.aedgeta.org/

Easter Egg Hunt

Come help find over 8,500 prize filled eggs! This egg hunt is open to all ages and is free to the public.There will be other activities and games sponsored by local non-profit organizations available during and after the egg hunt. there is a fee for most activities and food.  This event takes place the Saturday prior to Easter each year. 
April Pool's Day
Superstition Fire & Medical District, AJ Parks & Recreation and AJ Police Department team up every April to conduct this Water Safety event.  Bring the whole family and enjoy the various activities, home pool safety for parents, mini swim lessons, swim skill evaluations, raffles, and much more. Itty Bitty Beach Party

Join AJ Parks & Rec. for this annual pool party for our littlest swimmers (ages 6 years and younger, children must be accompanied by an adult at all times)! There will be swimming, games, prizes and MORE!  This event typically occurs in June each year. 

4th of July Event-July 4th

Join Apache Junction Parks and Recreation Department as we celebrate Independence Day! Activities throughout the day include a FREE Sand Volleyball Tournament, swimming and a FREE fireworks show and festivities. 

Teen Night @ the Pool

Join AJ Parks & Rec. lifeguards in July for this exclusive teens only pool party for 13-17-year olds. There will be swimming, games, music, pizza, drinks and MORE!  

Halloween Festival

Join AJ Parks & Rec. for our annual Halloween Festival. There will be games, food, live music, bounce houses, a petting zoo, a Costume Contest, Pumpkin Carving Contest, Howl-o-ween Canine Costume Contest, and more! Event Flyer
Festival of the Superstitions
This community partnership event is sponsored by the Apache Junction Chamber of Commerce and will be held in November in Downtown Apache Junction. There will be live entertainment, food, vendors, and much more! Veteran's Day Parade

Ben Johnson Days
This annual community event is hosted in November at the Apache Junction Rodeo Park Event Center. This event includes a gymkhana and Poker Ride. For more information please contact Hux Russell at (480) 250-2628.

Heal Yourself, Heal Your World, Wellness Event

In November, the MGC will host healers, providers, non-profits & other agencies who are in the business of wellness. With over 80 booths, educational classes, art classes, demos, handouts, give-a-ways, & much more you will definitely go home with something!  This event is free (a canned food donation is suggested).  More information

Holiday Program & Light Parade

It will be snowing in AJ again this year! Parks & Recreation will not only have Santa, but SNOW for the entire family to enjoy. Join us in Downtown AJ for a full day of events on Saturday, December 3rd, starting with the  Walk-A-Thon, Santa, Snow, Vendor booths, and wrapping up with the annual light parade. More information.
Lost Dutchman Marathon
This community event is sponsored by Lost Dutchman Marathon Inc. This annual Lost Dutchman Marathon community event is hosted on President's Day weekend.
