Fit Families is a program designed to encourage and support families to spend more time together and make healthier life choices. Through partnerships, the Apache Junction Multi-Generational Center (MGC) will provide events, workshops, scholarship opportunities for members of our community. In addition, parents can work out or take one of our group fitness classes while their kids climb the rock wall, shoot hoops, play in the game room, or just hang.

Fit Family Events
As part of our effort to provide opportunities for families to play together, Fit Family Events will be offered on various Fridays/Saturdays throughout the year. Most of these events are free for families unless otherwise noted. For more information about these events, please contact the MGC at 480-474-5240.
Girls on the Run® (GOTR)is a non-profit program that encourages preteen girls to develop self-respect and healthy lifestyles through running. The program combines training for a 5k running event with self-esteem enhancing, uplifting workouts and curriculum-based lessons on themes such as dealing with body image and the media, resisting peer pressure, making healthy decisions and contributing to the community. Open to all 3rd-5th grade girls, this program will be held at the MGC and will culminate in a season ending 5k Run/Walk.
Today's middle-school girls face many challenges and obstacles that can affect their emotional and physical well-being. The Heart & Sole curriculum is designed to address these challenges by empowering them to make thoughtful and healthy decisions. Like Girls on the Run, the Heart & Sole curriculum is delivered over the course of 10 to 12 weeks and addresses the societal, mental and emotional challenges particular to 6th-8th graders and will culminate in a season ending 5k Run/Walk.

Teen Weight Training
Teen Weight Training is for 13-15 year olds interested in learning how to properly use weights, learn weight room etiquette, design a fitness program and learn proper nutrition. Register at the Parks and Recreation office or call 480-983-2181 for more information.
