Janine Solley, economic development director for the city of Apache Junction, has been awarded re-certification by the International Economic Development Council, effective Jan. 1, 2019.
Solley first achieved the Certified Economic Developer designation in 2015. Solley was awarded recertification, required every three years, after meeting demanding requirements for continuing education and service to the profession.
With 11 years of economic development experience, Solley has led downtown revitalization efforts, facilitated the development of new commercial development within the city, advocated for business, broadened strategies to help diversify the local economy, and created programs to increase awareness intended to help make Apache Junction a destination for businesses, visitors and future residents.
The designation is highly recognized and denotes a mastery of principal skills in economic development, professional attainment and a commitment to professional growth.
Solley first earned certification by passing a rigorous three-part, two-day examination, testing her knowledge, proficiency and judgment in the key areas of economic development. As highly skilled economic development practitioners, Solley and more than 1,000 other certified economic developers work with public officials, business leaders and community members to create and retain high-quality jobs, establish economic vibrancy, and improve quality of life for the people they serve.
