Halloween season is upon us and the city of Apache Junction Parks and Recreation wants to make your night spook-tacular. While things may look different this year, we are still committed to bringing all the good ghouls and goblins of Apache Junction some treats.
New this year, we will be offering a Boo-Thru event! Families can drive through different business and locations around the city. These will be decorated drive-up trick or treat stations that you will be able to safely pull up to in your car to receive candy. (All items will be pre-packaged and all people handing out candy will be wearing masks and gloves) This is being offered as a safe alternative to our Trunk or Treat and/or traditional neighborhood trick or treating. A map showing all the different locations will be made available the week before Halloween. The Boo-Thru will take place from 2 p.m.-5 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 31.
Another new addition to this year’s event is the Monster Scavenger Hunt. There will be numbered monsters posted at various parks and businesses around the community from Oct. 29 to Nov. 1. Families will be able to drive around and search for them scavenger hunt style from their vehicle. There will be a tracking sheet and you will be able to submit your answer sheet to us the following Monday for a chance to win a Fall Themed Rec Bag! Will you be able to locate all the scary monsters located around town?
Finally, it wouldn’t be Halloween without our annual costume and pumpkin carving contests! Share your pumpkin carving skills and costumes to our email, email@example.com and we will post on our Facebook event page for voting. The community will vote on the pictures and we will use the number of likes to determine the winners in each category. Pumpkin pictures can be emailed from Oct. 23-26 with the winners announced on Halloween. Costume pictures can be emailed on Halloween weekend and the winners will be announced on Nov. 9.
If your business or organization would like to have a monster hidden at your location please contact Jeff Kopp at Jkopp@ajcity.net or 480-474-5152 by Monday, Oct. 26. If your local business would like to participate in the Boo-Thru, please contact Charlie at firstname.lastname@example.org by Wednesday, Oct. 21.
