The city of Apache Junction applies for and receives federal funds through the Arizona State Department of Housing for the owner-occupied housing rehabilitation program. The program provides deferred payment loans of $1,000 to $55,000 for heating, air conditioning, plumbing, roofs, code violations, and ADA accessibility as well as other health and safety issues. These loans can be “forgivable” loans. If the owner remains in the home for a specified period of time, no repayment or interest is due.
